I am excited to announce the newest issue of Deafula: #9!
I know that I have scaled back on my zine-related writing and appearances, and this issue is all about the very cute yet time-consuming reason why: I had a baby!
Issue #9 especially centers on my experience as a disabled woman navigating pregnancy and giving birth. I recount and explore the ways in which I was treated differently and the ways I was (and was not) accommodated. I ask myself questions about what it means to be a disabled parent to a non-disabled child, and how that might shape my future relationship with my son.
I will be releasing Deafula #9 at a very special reading to be held at the University of Pennsylvania. The details are as follows, and I hope you can join me.
